Meet the Orthodontist

Dr. Anthony (Anurag) Patel was born in Chicago, Illinois and he attended Maine West High School in suburban Des Plaines. He went on to earn two Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biochemistry and Psychology with high distinction at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He then attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he was one of only two individuals out of a class of over 100 to receive both Doctor of Dental Medicine and Master of Science in Education degrees concurrently. Dr. Patel was also awarded a full scholarship for all four years of study by the United States Navy Dental Corps.

Dr. Patel was then sworn in as a Lieutenant and received his Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate at the Naval Dental Center at Great Lakes, Illinois. As a result of his strong performance and extensive clinical training, he was chosen to serve a 3-year tour as one of the lead dentists onboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in Seattle, Washington. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Patel earned numerous awards, service medals and commendations, including the title of Surface Warfare Officer.

Upon completion of his active duty military obligation, Dr. Patel attended the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, where he received his specialty training in orthodontics and was selected as the Chief Resident. His passion for teaching allowed him to participate as a lecturer to dental students and his efforts lead his peers to create the Award for Excellence in Orthodontic Education in his name, which is presented annually by Dr. Patel to a graduating orthodontic resident. He also travels back to San Antonio once per month where he donates his time as a Clinical Associate Professor in the residency program and is extensively involved in the education and development of future orthodontic practitioners.

During his free time, Dr. Patel loves spending time with his family and attending professional and college sporting events. He is also an avid snowboarder and enjoys biking, golfing and working out. He and his wife, Trusha, have two sons, Caden and Cameron, and they provide hours of joy and entertainment.

Dr. Patel is truly dedicated towards delivering the most modern technologies and advanced clinical techniques available today. In addition to having earned over 1000 hours of continuing education, he has earned the distinctive honor of Diplomate status with the American Board of Orthodontics. His treated cases and orthodontic research have been featured at a number of international seminars and meetings.

Dr. Patel practices with the goal of upholding the standard of delivering beautiful smiles and outstanding customer service. His attention to detail along with his calm and caring attitude has earned him countless words of praise and he is looking forward to the opportunity to establish lasting relationships with you and your family.
